The United Nations Society would like to express its deep sorrow at the tragic effects of cyclone Nargis on southern Myanmar. Several agencies of the United Nations are contributing emergency relief and we would like to encourage members to donate where they can.
Sadly, this is but one of many humanitarian crises occurring throughout the world, and UN bodies always need financial support to enable them to continue improving living standards and defending basic human rights.
Sydney delegation costs
This page provides links to pay for:
If you are joining the group accommodation, you'll have to pay $60 ASAP and a further $200 by May 29 (or you can pay it all at once).
If you are not joining the group accommodation, you must pay $20 by May 29. Please email us to tell us you don't need accommodation.
We will begin making room bookings on May 12 and will make a new set periodically after that. If we don't hear from you at all, we'll assume you don't need a room in the group accommodation.
There are three ways to pay:
5.30-7.30pm, Monday April 28 (Week 8), Holme Reading Room
Our next MiniMUN will be on the topic of Security Council reform. As usual, it will be free and we will provide pizza (more than last time!), snacks and drinks.
For those of you who will be part of our AMUNC delegation, this is another excellent chance to practise your Model UN skills and learn some tips from more experienced members of the Society. We will spend some time filling you in on the progress of delegation registration and country allocation. Since our delegation is larger than the usual attendance at a MiniMUN, we may debate the resolution in teams if turnout is high.

Time is ticking down to register for the Sydney University delegation to AMUNC 2008. It is already set to be our largest delegation ever for a conference outside of Sydney, and there is room for everyone who would like to be part of a fantastic week.
Remember that our countries are China, Italy, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, and now also France. Visit the AMUNC information page or jump straight to the registration page.
Registrations must be submitted by 11.59pm on Wednesday April 23 in order for your country and committee preferences to be considered, and we will allocate committee positions primarily on a first-in best-dressed policy. After this deadline, we will still accept members to the delegation, but you will get less of a choice about which country you represent and which topics you discuss, so fill in the form ASAP.
If you have any questions, please email amunc@usydunsociety.org .
