Sydney University Model United Nations 2010

In 2005, The International Criminal Court accused the president of Sudan, Omar al-Bashir, of genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes. However, the case could not be further investigated because as serving president of Sudan, Bashir enjoys diplomatic immunity and thus is prevented from being charged.

To rectify this, if you are a delegate in the Sixth General Assembly, what would you have done?

Since the end of the Chinese Civil War in 1949, Communist China and Nationalist China have been separated by the most volatile strait in the world. Since then, Communist China has grown stronger and stronger - developing nuclear weapons, even obtaining a permanent seat in the Security Council, to the discomfort of Nationalist China.

To ensure peace, if you are a delegate in the Security Council, what would you have done?

For decades, Turkey has been trying to gain membership in the European Union, citing its long history shared with the rest of Europe. This has been met with strong opposition from existing members, espeically from France, to the point where the French president Nicolas Sarkozy stated that "Turkey is simply not geographically located in Europe." But at the same time every EU member state understands that Turkey is the gateway to the Arab world, which is becoming increasingly important.

To reconcile this, if you are a delegate in the European Union, what would you have done?
