What is AMUNC?
AMUNC is the Asia-Pacific Model United Nations Conference, and is one of the world’s premier university-level model United Nations conferences. Each year, it brings 500 students from all across the Asia-Pacific region for a week of inspiring Un-style debating, negotiation, diplomacy, public speaking, socials and speaker events!
AMUNC 2013 will be hosted by Victoria University. This year’s conference promises to be an ‘unparalleled social and educational experience’ as a week of intense debate sets itself in the surroundings of the truly beautiful city of Wellington. Boasting 19 committees to entice your wide-ranging appetites, the Secretariat are offering innovative committees such as the International Monetary Fund (IMF), UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), the always delightful and entertaining chance to be apart of the International Press Gallery and three legal committees challenging the boundaries of international law.
When is it?
AMUNC will take place from the 7th – 12th of July, which is conveniently placed in the semester break!

Why should I attend?
AMUNC is a chance for you to really engage in current international affairs, and it is a wonderful opportunity to meet people from all around the Asia-Pacific with similar interests and passions. AMUNC is also a chance to develop diplomatic, public speaking, negotiation and compromise skills – skills that are highly useful in life, and in the public and private sector. Not to mention, AMUNC is a very fun week with big socials planned every night, and also looks great on a CV!
