As part of humanitarian week, Eva Cox is coming in to speak! Following that, we will be having a Q&A as well as a follow-up Mini-Mun! Be there and get ready to be wowed!
This Thursday, held in conjunction with the University of Sydney Union Humanitarian Programs, we’ll be holding our first (!) MiniMUN – based on the theme “The Girl Effect”.
For those who don’t know what a MiniMUN is, it’s our debating Model UN format, a great opportunity to either learn or refresh your skills! We’ll be instituting a pro-am format, so to any newcomers, don’t worry, someone will be there to hold your hand through the night.
The resolution to debate will be on “Access to contraception in Third World Countries.” Don’t stress if you don’t know anything about the issue, as there will be a short presentation on the topic immediately prior to the debate. We’ll be sending out all materials by Wednesday morning so you’ll have enough time to prepare as well.
But most importantly and most excitingly, we’re also having Eva Cox speak for the first part of the night on the topic at hand and the need for female empowerment in Third World Countries. For those who don’t know who she is, Eva Cox – is a prominent “Australian writer, feminist, sociologist, social commentator and activist.” You’ll have seen her on Q&A, firing away! She’s a fantastic speaker, extraordinarily intelligent, and we’re really looking forward to seeing her and we hope you are too!
Pizza and soft drinks will be provided. We hope to see you there!
Location: New Law School Annexe SR 442.
